Weekly Dance Program

At Trackers, we dance the "full" Plus program with some tips having a mix  of 'standard' Plus and that of "All Position" (or APD).  Some DBD (dance by definition) may also appear from time to time as well as the potential for some introduction to A1 moves.  This dance mix was introduced in 2007-08 and dancer feedback was good, so it will continue, still based on the solid premise of "having FUN" !!   Dancer 'input' is always welcome !

Generally, the first few weeks of the dance season includes a full review of the Plus moves, giving a good 're-fresher' for any newly taught Plus dancers,  as well as serving as a good review for all.

NEW for 2008-09 though is the addition of Rounds (between squares) !
Our regular square dancing starts at 7:30pm and between the 6 tips that follow, there's always been a 5 minute 'break'.
However, as we enter our 6th year, and after a number of enquiries from some of our dancers, we've decided (as an experiment for this year)  to insert a Round Dance into most breaks between the squares.  This is for all our squares dancers that also currently dance rounds.  Gerry Sawtell has agreed to join our 'staff' to cue for the round dancing;  and advises that the level will be Phase 2 & 3.  So, welcome Gerry!

We will evaluate the impact of this change at the end of the season to determine if this will be a 'permanent' addition to Trackers, so....Your feedback will be most helpful in this regard, so please don't be shy !!

Attention:  Single/Solo Dancers

Solo dancers (both male & female) are welcome to attend, but because the club does not have 'angels', you will need to  'pre-arrange' to have a partner to dance with, otherwise you will not dance as much as they would like - or even not at all.  If you are a 'solo' dancer, would like to attend and have been unable to find a partner, then contact Geoff  to determine if there are any dancers available that you may be able to 'partner' with.

Dance Fees for 2008/09 (no change over previous year)

Club Fees - $90 per dancer - payable in full in Sept or alternately, in 2 equal  'semester' payments in Sept & Jan
  • Plus - EOSARDA Dancer Insurance Fee - $5 per dancer
    • To provide the liability insurance coverage that all dance hall locations require clubs to have in place, the Clubs pay the Eastern Ontario Square & Round Dance Association (EOSARDA) a specific fee to provide the coverage for each of their dancers.  In the past years, that insurance fee has been included in our Club  regular dance fees. However that fee has been rising gradually, and for 2007-08, has reached $5 per dancer.  Rather than increasing Club Membership fees, this 'mandatory' cost has now been broken out & will be shown on your membership form as a separate item to be paid  at the start of the dance season in September. It is paid only once per year at your 'home' club only. Dancer insurance is effective from Jan 1 to Dec 31, however any 'new' dancers (not danced in the previous year) that join in September are automatically covered.

Visitor Fee - $5 per dancer per night

Club Caller:

TRACKERS is a "Caller-run" Club established by Geoff & Teena Clarke in the fall of 2003.   The original club 'concept' (teaching & dancing Plus) was an idea that was spawned by Geoff   after running a Plus Workshop in May/June of 2003.  After 4 years,  teaching was dropped in favour of more APD to further strengthen dancer skills. Trackers continues to evolve as Geoff & Teena want to ensure that their dancers get the best dancing experience possible while at the same time, having FUN - hence the addition of Rounds for this season!  As with his other clubs, Geoff's easy-going nature rubs off on everyone, making for a fun and relaxed atmosphere each week at the club!

  Club Cuer:

Gerry & Jim Sawtell first joined the Kickers as square dancers in 2001 & moved on to Trackers in 2003.  They started to learn Round dancing in 2002 and Gerry did her first serious cueing in late 2004.  In September of 2005, they started their own Round Dance Club in Stittsville, the 'Round Tuit Dancers'.  Gerry assisted the club cuer at the 'Capital Steppers' during 2005/06, and became their full time club cuer in Sept 2006 when Ralph Morin retired.
So..... as Gerry & Jim started out as "Kickers",  you can be sure that they're already in the 'club mode' of FUN & Friendship!!
